The first episode ended on an ominous note. In the scene, Abby (played by Caitlin Dever) and her team arrived in Wyoming. Five years after she promised to avenge the members of the Fireflies killed by Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) at the Salt Lake City hospital and went after Joel to save Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey), they loomed over Jackson Town. In the second episode, while trying to escape a horde of infected on the mountain, Abby accidentally encountered Joel and Dina...

 

The writers have admitted that this episode is extremely brutal. "This episode also makes me very sad. I just want everyone to know that we are not gloating. We feel the same way, and it's heartbreaking," said Craig Mazin, the director and writer, in an interview.

 

Currently, the second episode has received a rating of 9.5 on IMDB.
