In other words, it is not a dream to see a doctor anytime, anywhere, via cell phone in the future!

Additionally, the New Zealand government has announced that it will fund a new, two-year primary medical training program to support up to 100 overseas-trained doctors to help them join the New Zealand healthcare system after completing their registration.

In a statement this afternoon, Brown said, “It is unconscionable if overseas-trained doctors in New Zealand who would like to work in primary care are unable to join because of insufficient training opportunities.”

Brown acknowledged that New Zealand's healthcare system is under extreme pressure and said the government would continue to invest more.

He revealed that he will deliver a major speech this Friday (March 7) setting out the priorities of his administration as Health Minister, one of which is to ensure New Zealanders have timely access to primary care.
He emphasized that general practitioners (GPs) are vital to New Zealanders because primary care is the cornerstone of the healthcare system.

“If people can see a doctor sooner, many health problems can be managed in the early stages, reducing the burden and cost of more serious healthcare.”
